Irina Nijinska (20 November 1913 - 2 July 1991) was a Russian-born ballet dancer. The daughter of the dancer and choreographer Bronislava Nijinska, she spent much of her life promoting her mother's work.〔W. J. Weatherby, 'Defender of the dance', ''The Guardian'', 6 July 1991〕
==Life==
Irina Nijinska was born in St Petersburg, the daughter of Bronislava Nijinska and Alexander Kotchetovsky; her uncle was Vaslav Nijinsky. Trained as a dancer in Paris, she made her debut with the Olga Spessivtzeva Ballet in 1930. Forced to give up dancing after a car accident in 1936, she became an assistant to her mother. She also translated and edited her mother's autobiography, the first volume of which appeared in 1981.〔Irina Nijinska died in a hospital in Inglewood CA after suffering of a stroke at the age of 77.
